The Potomac Center is a 62-bed licensed Intermediate Care\r
Facility (ICF). This program focuses on using therapeutic interventions to\r
empower residents as they learn the skills they need to successfully return to\r
community living.\r
\r
\r
The Secure Evaluation and Therapeutic Treatment (SETT)\r
Program, located within the Potomac Center campus, is a 32-bed licensed\r
Forensic Residential Center that provides services to individuals with\r
intellectual disabilities and court involvement within a safe and secure\r
environment. The program provides assistance as they resolve their court\r
involvement and work toward transitioning to a less secured environment. The\r
SETT utilizes active treatment as well as providing evaluation, assessment and\r
competency attainment education.\r

Main Purpose of Job

This full time contractual position provides supervisory oversight of all occupational therapy treatments, based upon functional strengths and needs, to Individuals admitted to and residing at Potomac Center/ SETT, either on admission or by referral from the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) after admission.\r
This position is responsible for the assessment, planning and implementation of Individuals' occupational therapy treatment.\r

This position supervises lower-level Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants and may supervise other Clinical staff as well. They may develop and provide clinical training of Occupational Therapy students.\r
This position develops the policies and procedures for the administrative and clinical functions of occupational therapy programs at Potomac Center/ SETT. They are responsible for monitoring the occupational therapy program budget, and order equipment and supplies as needed.\r
They collect all necessary data to develop occupational therapy treatment plans for Individuals served at the Potomac Center/ SETT.\r
The Occupational Therapist Supervisor determines additional training, education, literature and resources needed in the area of occupational therapy. They plan, develop, implement and evaluate all occupational therapy treatments for patients/clients. This includes oversight, as well as the provision of, individual and group occupational therapy interventions. As such, they instruct individuals or groups in specific habilitative skill development, such as social interaction, sensorimotor functions, basic tasks, grooming and hygiene, and independent daily living skills. They study, observe, and record the reactions and progress of Individuals, and modify programming as needed to achieve optimal outcomes.�\r

This position receives general supervision from the Clinical Director. This position may be subject to after-hours work resulting in compensatory time. This position is required to observe infection control precautions and may be required to lift and move clients/patients and equipment. This position may be required to physically restrain patients/clients displaying violent and aggressive behavior.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�� Determined by the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice under the licensing requirements for Occupational Therapists.\r

Experience: Four years of experience as an Occupational Therapist.�\r
\r
\r
Notes:\r
1. Candidates may substitute a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational Therapy for two years of the required experience.�\r
\r
\r
2.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Therapy classifications or Therapy specialty codes in the Occupation Therapy field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as an Occupational Therapist from the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice, Spring Grove Hospital Center, 55 Wade Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21228.\r

2. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.\r

3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r
\r

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r
