Summary:


The Operations Data Analytics Principal is a key role on the Operations Strategy & Excellence Team. This is a full-time seasonal role and will last 6-8 months. This team is charged with leading the most critical and complex cross-functional projects within global Operations to create bottom-line impact. Many of these projects directly support executive level initiatives and DFIN's overall strategic vision. They require an advanced level of problem solving and data analysis, which is where this role becomes critical.

You will be independently leading the analytics workstream on these projects to provide insights that will drive pertinent business decisions. Since these projects span across many functions, you will be managing and influencing a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders and leaders. You will be independently compiling and cleaning data from many sources, building analytical models and dashboards, and sharing insights directly to functional leaders. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects across the organization to build your problem solving, data analytics, communications, and project management skills.

We are looking for self-starters who are excited to jump in quickly and are comfortable working in a potentially ambiguous environment. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced candidate who can quickly ramp up on new data sets and start having impact immediately.



Responsibilities:

  • Independently contribute to a diverse set of data-driven operational improvement projects, and assist with deliverables such as data clean-up, data mapping, data analysis, KPI generation/tracking, and PowerBI dashboards
  • Compile and clean information from various databases and data systems so that collected data can be integrated and applied to project analysis
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Synthesize clear takeaways from complex information using both qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Make recommendations based on data analysis and "tell the story" of how data links to recommendations
  • Independently create models such as financial modeling, linear regression, capacity analysis, and cost benefit analysis
  • Work with business leaders to develop KPI's to measure execution effectiveness
  • Develop and maintain Excel and Power BI dashboards to track KPI's and other project related data
  • Work with your project team to collaborate on workplans, share data insights, and recommend next steps
  • Work with a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders and leaders
  • Take ownership of your work and drive projects forward, with coaching from your team
  • Communicate effectively with various audiences, in a structured manner of clear and concise information
  • Mentor and coach new / junior members of the team


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Operations or related quantitative field
  • 3-5 years of relevant data driven experience in an operations or business analyst role
  • Ability to work full-time in this role for 6-8 months
  • Consulting experience is a plus
  • Advanced skills in PowerBI; ability to build complex dashboards independently
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel; ability to clean and manipulate data independently
  • Proficient to advanced skills MS PowerPoint and Word
  • MS Office 365 knowledge is a plus
  • Tableau, and/or SQL experience is a plus
  • Experience leading workstreams on team projects and contributing to push problems forward
  • High level of intellectual and analytical curiosity
  • Experience organizing and analyzing large data sets from multiple sources
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines
  • Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Comfort working with potentially ambiguous problems and working on projects that are consistently new and challenging
