Description
Job Overview:
At Prelude Therapeutics, the Research Scientist will play a key role in our mission to design and develop a pipeline of novel therapies for cancer patients, with a focus on Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs).
We are a team of science-driven and passionate scientists committed to innovative and efficient drug discovery activities within a collaborative and dynamic working environment.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and interactive individual with a background in cell/molecular biology, demonstrating versatility and a willingness to adapt and contribute across various stages of the drug discovery process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Evaluate the potency and selectivity of new molecules in various functional and phenotypic cell-based assays.
- Characterize new molecules through mechanism of action studies.
- Develop, validate, and optimize assay systems to support the detection of cellular and tissue pharmacodynamic markers.
- Conduct specific assays related to ADCs, such as antibody internalization assays.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, analyze and interpret results, present summaries, and generate reports of the studies.
- Contribute to project planning and strategy, ensuring timely progress and troubleshooting of experimental challenges.
Qualifications:
Education:
PhD in molecular/cell biology, cancer biology, or equivalent discipline.
Experience:
- PhD with 0-2 years of relevant research experience and a strong publication record.
- 5-7 years' experience in oncology research in an industry or academic setting for BS/BA or MS candidates.
Specific Skills (preferred):
- Hands-on experience with tissue culture, cell viability assays, immunoblotting, and quantitative RT-PCR.
- Experience with the Incucyte platform for live-cell imaging and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with tissue processing such as tissue homogenizing and immunohistochemistry staining.
- Hands-on experience working with Therapeutic Antibodies and/or Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs).
- Proficiency in data analysis and presentation software.
- Experience with co-culture experiments to study cell-cell interactions and the tumor microenvironment.
Personal Characteristics:
- Highly self-motivated, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and in a team/matrix environment.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
Additional Information:
- This is an on-site position at our Wilmington, DE site.
- This position requires 90% wet lab work, focusing on hands-on experimental tasks.
- Title and compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.
