Job Description Summary:
The Center for African American Health (CAAH) is seeking a proactive and dynamic professional to serve as an Administrative Assistant. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing support to the CAAH's administrative functions and initiatives. Reporting to the CAAH leadership, you will be an integral member of the CAAH team, contributing to our mission and vision in various ways.
Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education: Associate's Degree. Relevant administrative support experience (i.e. – payment reconciliation, calendaring, scheduling/hosting meetings, etc) may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in an administrative support role, including payment reconciliation, calendaring, scheduling/hosting meetings, etc.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, as evidenced by application materials.
  • Prior work experience handling confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree.

Work experience:

  • One to two (1-2) years of experience working in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
  • Experience with program development.

Job Duties:

  • Perform administrative tasks for the CAAH, including managing appointments, scheduling, and calendar management.
  • Prepare correspondence and distribute mail and communication to appropriate person on the CAAH team.
  • Compile information, generate reports, and actively participate in implementing CAAH initiatives.
  • Initiate invoice processing and payment reconciliation.
  • Create and distribute content for the CAAH Listserv.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Assist in setting up and organizing both virtual and on-site events.
  • Distribute program evaluations to participants.
  • Provide support to CAAH cabinet and subcommittees, coordinating monthly meetings, collecting agenda items, and sharing meeting minutes.
  • Maintain records of cabinet and subcommittee members and other relevant information.
  • Coordinate CAAH training sessions offered to community and businesses.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to manage the CAAH website.
  • Cultivate and nurture positive relationships with diverse stakeholders across the KUMC campuses (KC and Wichita), The University of Kansas Health System, and surrounding communities.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms to convey accurate information to all interested parties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
