The primary purpose of this position is: Under the direct guidance of a higher level Architect or Engineer, to serve as a developmental Architect, performing architectural duties in support of assigned program(s) or architectural function.

This is a formal Air Force intern position, established under the PALACE Acquire (PAQ) program.

Duties

Assists in planning and design process for new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for real property facilities and utility systems utilizing a professional knowledge of architecture.


Monitors and manages projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities and maintains surveillance over construction contractors utilizing a professional knowledge of architectural to ensure overall compliance with contracted specifications, schedules, etc.

Evaluates/recommends programs and development plans and advocates for project requirements.

Performs project programming for the accomplishment installation sustainment, operation, and developmental objectives using required database and IT tools.

Performs work in facilities operations and maintenance (O&M) functions. Supports development of installation Activity Management Plans (AMPs) developing short and long range facilities and

infrastructure priorities and requirements.


Coordinates projects with other architects, engineers in a variety of disciplines, and planners as well as contracting officers, tenant organization representatives, and construction agents such as from private contracting companies, Army Corps of Engineers, or AF Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC).


Collects data and evaluates factors which affect the application of concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to observe, examine, measure, analyze, map, and describe physical and technical features and phenomena.


Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
