About this role

What will you be responsible for?

Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, the Director of Internal Communications will play a critical role in nurturing a well-informed and aligned workforce at Newmont. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing content and communications strategies to advance Newmont's business strategy and transformation.

Develop and Implement Internal Communication Strategy:

  • Collaborate closely with the business and HR to deliver a comprehensive communications strategy while incorporating global best practices for internal communications
  • Use data-driven insights and audience feedback to tailor and deliver communications, helping employees understand the company's purpose, strategy, values and their role in contributing to company success
  • Ensure messaging is clear, consistent and tailored to resonate with a wide range of employees across various levels and geographies

Lead, Manage & Improve Internal Communications:

  • Collaborate with colleagues and local teams to design and implement communication campaigns that align with companywide messaging, considering cultural nuances and ensuring consistency across business units. Regularly evaluate the effectively of communication for local audiences
  • Develop and maintain clear policies, standards and guidelines for internal communications globally, fostering cohesion and alignment across the company
  • Establish communication systems that facilitate ongoing feedback and dialogue, promoting a culture of openness and collaboration
  • Establish and implement a comprehensive internal communications measurement framework, including key performance indicators to track reach, adaptation, and content and channel effectiveness
  • Engage with leaders to seek and interpret data and trends that inform what employees need; provide effective communications solutions, addressing opportunities, globally and locally
  • Continue to evolve and implement best practice frontline engagement with leaders and communication colleagues, providing broader access and connectivity to company information
  • Remain current on communication trends and technologies, making recommendations for improvement in line with the company's business objectives
  • Guide a Community of Practice for communications partners, connecting and collaborating with colleagues to facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice exchange across Newmont (global, corporate, business unit, functional and site-specific)

Deliver Effective Change Communication:

  • Collaborate closely with change management to shape and employ change communication strategies for critical global projects, emphasizing the need for change and aligning employees with the new direction.

Your training, skills & experience checklist

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field
  • Master's degree preferred

Experience

  • Min. 10+ years of combined experience in internal / corporate communications with demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategies for diverse audiences
  • Experience in global, publicly held companies strongly preferred
  • Experience with organizational change and business transformation communication preferred
  • 3+ years of people management experience preferred

Ability to

  • Build strong relationships with internal partners and leaders; comfortable influencing and providing constructive counsel to both
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering them on time and within budget, with minimal supervision
  • Deliver high-quality thinking and deliverables with exceptional attention to detail, even when deadlines are tight
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive and/or material information
  • Create compelling messages and campaigns that build awareness of, connection between and reinforcement of business objectives
  • Continuously improve by identifying, assessing and implementing improved ways of working
  • Deliver new and creative ways of thinking, writing and implementing communications
  • Be flexible in a fast-paced and -changing business environment with competing priorities

  • Outstanding writing and editing skills, with an eye to messaging for a range of internal channels and audiences
  • Natural self-starter who demonstrates creative and critical thinking abilities
  • Exceptional planning and prioritization capabilities
  • Proficient in role-related tools and technology, including, but not limited to: Microsoft 365, content management systems, and graphic design, video editing, measurement, file-sharing and collaboration tools

Working conditions & location
  • Denver-based role but will consider those located in existing Newmont hub locations
  • Occasional domestic or international travel may be required
  • Willingness to work across geographies and different time zones when required

The salary range offered for this role is USD $138,240 to 164,160. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
