Kite is a biopharmaceutical company engaged in the development of novel cancer immunotherapies with a goal of providing rapid, long-term durable response and eliminating the burden of chronic care. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as a QC Microbiology Tech I in our commercial cell therapy Quality Control located in El Segundo CA. You will work with the Quality Control team in supporting our efforts in this exciting new area of cancer immunotherapy. You will be responsible for daily Environmental monitoring of our clean rooms and Final product release testing. Initial shift is Sun-Wed morning 6AM-430PM.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Collect water samples to ensure all sample collected per schedule and
tested on time
• Perform microbiological assays such as Gram Stain, Endotoxin, Sterility,
Microbial Identification, Growth Promotion, Bioburden and Plate Reading
• Aid in filing/archiving of test records.
• Data entry and trend data as needed and prepare slides for management
• Assist in investigations regarding out of specifications (OOS) results, address
and manage deviations related to micro procedures.
• Routine maintenance of lab equipment and lab spaces
• Learns how to troubleshoot and remediate basic microbiological testing related
issues.
• Helps maintain a safe work environment by working in accordance with all
safety SOPs.
• Ensuring assigned tasks are completed on time, while adhering to
operational standards and regulatory requirements.
• Helps keep lab operations clean and inspection ready
• Works under close and frequent direction of supervisor
• Perform environmental monitoring of cleanrooms
• Additional duties as assigned.
• These duties can be delegated to designated deputies of a satisfactory
qualification level as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
• High School diploma and 2+ years' experience working in biology or microbiology lab set up OR
• Associate's Degree and 1+ years' experience in biology or microbiology lab set up.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology preferred with 0 to 2 years of Microbiology lab/Environmental Monitoring experience
- Experience in the application of microbiological techniques such as air monitoring, water testing, surface monitoring, genus and species identification of various microbes
- Experience in aseptic techniques and clean room operations
- Ability to gown for entry into Aseptic core and supporting areas, and lift approximately 25 lbs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work and behave in a manner consistent with the company values of Inclusion, Integrity, Teamwork, Accountability and Excellence.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative, team-based work environment
- Ability to pass vision exam for visual inspection
- Knowledge of GMP, SOPs and quality control processes
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and other applications
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
- Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
- Ability to be flexible with schedule, and work overtime as needed

The salary range for this position is: $54, $70, Kite considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
