Job Description:
DuPont - Facilities Services and Real Estate seeks a Facility Engineer to provide leadership and technical support at our headquarters (Chestnut Run Plaza) and the central research center (Experimental Station Laboratory) sites in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Facilities Engineer would be responsible for technical competency and stewardship for the buildings in one of these respective areas through the continuous improvement of reliability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness of the building systems.
Job ResponsibilitiesBe proactive in providing a safe, comfortable environment for the internal customers including maintaining proper indoor air quality, providing energy efficient systems and providing reliable equipment.
Develop a strategic plan for the buildings in your assigned service center. Assess building and equipment conditions and develop a 5 year capital plan.Assisting the customer to insure that the building infrastructure can support any new research operations. Lead the commissioning of any new equipment and/or systems.
Gathering, analyzing and approving data, blueprints and reports related to the operation and maintenance of the building.
Evaluating operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
Sustainability – Maintain and operate your buildings in an energy efficient manner. Be proactive in developing new opportunities to save energy on site.
Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and EH&S (Environmental, Health and Safety) standards. Perform safety audits, address customer safety concerns and follow up on any safety audit action items.
Document management – Maintain the accuracy and continue to develop as necessary the master drawings. Input all of the appropriate documentation for any new equipment.
Skills Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience in Facilities Engineering.
The ability to understand project goals and requirements, understand business objectives, work independently, manage multiple jobs simultaneously, organize work, and set priorities.
Knowledgeable of applicable standards such as: ASHRAE, OSHA, NFPA, NEC, SMACNA.Subject matter expert in HVAC, piping and BAS (Building Automation System). Knowledge of the other (non-HVAC) disciplines included in research laboratory and office facilities.
Thorough understanding of related building technologies including fire protection, water treatment, electrical distribution, electrical classification, process hazards, civil, structural, and architectural engineering.
Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively use computer tools is a necessity.Strong interpersonal relationship skills, influence and negotiating skills, and be able to work effectively in a team environment with people at all jobs levels that are culturally diverse.
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Skills preferred:
Knowledge of the various building systems associated with research laboratory and office facilities: Air Handlers, Exhaust Fans, Steam, Chilled Water, Deionized Water, Vacuum, Nitrogen, Compressed Air, and Variable Air Flow Valves.
At least 5 years of experience as facilities engineer.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.
