We are seeking a Senior Principal FPGA Design Engineer to join our FAST Labs team. Our engineers create and develop advanced technology capabilities in the areas of advanced electronics, autonomy, cyber, electronic warfare, and sensors and processing in a fast-paced research and development (R&D) environment.
In this role, you will have opportunities to work as an FPGA Technical Project Lead on a cross functional team made up of Scientists, Systems/Software/Hardware Engineers, and Program Management under the guidance of a Chief Engineer on research programs. As a FAST Labs FPGA Lead Engineer you will:

  • Translate Requirements into Hardware Description Language (HDL) designs (e.g. VHDL)
  • Perform trade studies, define architecture, and provide utilization estimates
  • Evaluate FPGA performance using simulation tools
  • Resolve code synthesis issues
  • Create design documentation
  • Estimate and track the cost and schedule of FPGA projects
  • Mentor and share your knowledge with junior FPGA engineers.
  • Support Systems and Software Engineers on Integration of FPGA Designs in a laboratory environment

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • 8+ years of FPGA Design / Development experience with Bachelor's Degree (less with advanced degree)
  • Ability to distill higher level requirements into micro-architecture
  • Experience with leading FPGA Teams including tracking cost, schedule
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Experience with ADC/DAC, JESD, PCIe, Ethernet interfaces on Xilinx FPGAs using VHDL
  • Experience with creating FPGA designs based on Matlab/Simulink models
  • Current active Top Secret Security Clearance

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $ $215270
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
