Members of the group are involved in the entire cycle of technology research and development, from initial concept ideation, program shaping and proposal development, through execution (including prototype development, integration, and test) and transition of research concepts to BAE Systems' business areas and products.

We are seeking a Technology Development Manager (TDM) for our Edge and Spectral Artificial Intelligence (AI) research group. Our research interests include radio frequency (RF), machine learning (ML), cognitive electronic warfare (EW), cognitive radio, cognitive signals intelligence (SIGINT), trustworthy AI, novel learning methodologies, and adaptive decision making and control across distributed systems, among others. These technologies are applied to several different product domains, such as tactical radios, cognitive communications, radar, electronic warfare (EW), spectrum sensing, and SIGINT. Successful candidates will be involved in multiple research programs with roles including technical leadership, technical development, customer interaction, program management, or new concept development. Most programs involve teams comprised of academical strong scientists and engineers across multiple disciplines.

The TDM will be the primary lead in engagement with external and internal customers to build, win, and execute programs that support the research and development of advanced technology. They are expected to leverage their position, reputation, and technical expertise to build and maintain relationships with government R&D organization such as DARPA, AFRL, OUSD(R&E), etc. Additionally, the candidate is expected to help define and advance the technical and programmatic roadmaps of the group, while maintaining alignment across the broader Autonomy, Processing and Exploitation (APEX) product line, the FAST Labs organization, and BAE Systems at large.

In this job role, qualified candidates can expect to:Contribute to and lead proposals.Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, external companies, and other BAE Systems groups and business areas.Implement a programmatic strategy to fund technology development.Pursue personal and portfolio growth to target standing up, managing, and supporting a team of scientists, researchers, and technology developers.Provide business and execution oversight of multiple programs valued at $1-10M each.Lead relevant research programs of 1-15 people as principal investigator.This position can be based out of our Merrimack, NH; Burlington, MA; or Arlington, VA facilities, though it will require collaboration with staff across our business areas and facilities in the Northeast.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it can take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely, or an on-site format.Required Education, Experience, & Skills Typically, a bachelor's degree with greater than 12 years of professional experience, or a master's degree and greater than 10 years of professional experience or a Doctorate and greater than 8 years of professional experience.Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to attain DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.Strong desire to collaborate with internal/external customers to improve proliferation of technology.Experience providing technical and management leadership to a diverse team of scientists, engineers, and managers.Experience leading across organizational boundaries for broad business impact.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Experience capturing and leading projects at the cutting edge of technology.Ability to define, propose, and lead independent research and development.Track record of technical innovation as evidenced by journal and conference publications or patent filings.Demonstrable entrepreneurial drive.Experience in at least one of the following areas:Cognitive EWRF Machine LearningTrustworthy AIPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills Active Top Secret Clearance.Master's or PhD in electrical engineering or related field.Prior experience as principal investigator on DoD R&D programs.Broad technical network from key Universities and Research Institutions.Experience with management of staff resources and financial responsibility.Experience as leader/manager of R&D project team.Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $ $250400

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
