Senior Director, Product Counsel

What you will be doing:

Partner closely with product and engineering teams throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept development to go-to-market strategy. Leverage your years of substantive legal experience to proactively identify and assess potential legal and global regulatory risks associated with our products and services. Develop and implement strategies to address and mitigate legal and compliance risks in our products. Build a strong product counseling program and drive cross-functional initiatives across the product development lifecycle. Hire and manage a product and privacy team. Stay at the forefront of legal developments in privacy, AI, financial services, and global regulations that impact our products and customers, providing thought leadership and strategic guidance to internal stakeholders. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements related to product development and use, including partnership agreements, supply chain agreements and customer-facing terms. Collaborate with external counsel as needed to manage complex matters with a global scope. Collaborate with other members of the legal team to achieve our company's goals. Contribute to other legal projects as required by the business. Provide legal training to team members and business stakeholders.

What you will bring to the team:

A minimum of 10 years of substantive legal experience, with at least 3 years of experience in product counseling, preferably within the in-house legal department of a SaaS company. A minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team. Demonstrated expertise in data privacy law and regulations, with a strong understanding of emerging technologies. Experience working with, and advising on, AI-powered products and services. Experience and practical insight into customer-driven development dynamics. Familiarity with open source and experience counseling companies on open-source policy and remediation. Experience navigating legal and regulatory complexities in global markets. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and navigate complex cross-functional initiatives. Strong project management skills and a collaborative and proactive approach, with a passion for innovation and a desire to be a strategic partner. A deep understanding of the SaaS industry, its unique legal challenges, and the global regulatory landscape. The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Curiosity and a willingness to tackle new challenges.

Bonus points if you have:

Experience working with financial services customers. A coding background or a strong understanding of technical concepts. Experience working at a startup or fast-paced growth company.
