What You'll Be Doing:
  • Leading and supervising a team of academic advisors.
  • Training and mentoring advising staff to maximize their potential.
  • Providing strategic guidance for student advising.
  • Evaluating advising performance and making necessary adjustments.
  • Maintaining knowledge of best practices in student support.
  • Fostering a high-performing and cohesive staff.
  • Collaborating with campus leadership on student success initiatives.
  • Addressing student issues and concerns with diplomacy and problem-solving skills.
  • Engaging with various campus groups to enhance student support.
  • Implementing research-based strategies for effective advising.
  • Ensuring advising policies and practices support a diverse student body.
  • Facilitating staff meetings to encourage information sharing and feedback.
  • Participating in the hiring process for advising team members.
  • Acting as a primary advisor to students in unique situations.

Your Communication & Outreach Responsibilities:
  • Developing a yearly student communication plan.
  • Aligning academic advising messaging with campus standards.
  • Advocating for advising needs and messaging within the university system.
  • Maintaining the advising website and creating relevant materials.
  • Managing social media accounts and other communication tools.
  • Utilizing technology for effective student support.
  • Creating resources for student information and networking.
  • Ensuring timely updates to materials.
  • Enhancing access to co-curricular activities and campus services.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Five years of experience in student services.

Additional Requirements:
  • Proven management and supervision skills.
  • Experience in strategic communication planning.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to equitable student services.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer programs.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in communication planning for students.
  • Prior experience in academic staff supervision.

Employment Conditions:
  • Hybrid position with on-site office presence.
  • Work hours aligned with advising center schedule.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
