Our Technical Operations team is full of aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help make sure they're well taken care of and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manages the safety and compliance surveillance program for United Base Maintenance operations and Essential Maintenance Providers as contracted by United
  • Assures adherence to regulations, policies, and procedures for safety and compliance for the purposes of maintaining compliant operations and the safeguarding of persons and aircraft
  • Works closely with the Tech Ops Safety Line Maintenance, SMS Program, and Quality Assurance teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks
  • Interfaces and collaborates regularly with Base Vendor Management and Quality Control leadership on focus areas, mitigation plans, and reporting
  • Provides critical inputs and participates in internal and EMP maintenance performance reviews as necessary
  • Serves as subject matter expert in safety and compliance for Base Maintenance operations (internal and external)
  • Responsible for continuous surveillance through regular site audits and visits
  • Conducts investigations for non-compliances and injury/damage incidents using standard methods and works to develop robust root cause, mitigation, and corrective action plans with local leadership
  • Integrates SMS principles into surveillance activities including identification of hazards of high safety and regulatory compliance risks
  • Establishes regular risk reviews and monitoring plans for risk identification internally and with EMP compliance groups for inputs into SMS
  • Promotes and incorporates lessons learned across areas of responsibility and within Line Maintenance, GSE, and FX where applicable
  • Integrates surveillance and analysis of operational, safety, and compliance risks/trends with Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs
  • Generate, analyze, and present audit/investigation findings and trends for department and division leadership

What's needed to succeed (Required Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's degree in aviation and/or safety-related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of aircraft maintenance, inspection, safety, and/or related air carrier experience
  • Standard Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) methods and techniques
  • Corrective Action Plan implementation and effectiveness measurement
  • Practical experience in application of OSHA and ANSI standards, the Code of Federal Regulations, UA policies and procedures
  • Proven superior interpersonal skills, writing skills, critical thinking, risk assessment, and presentation skills; Highest standard of ethics and integrity to compliance adherence
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
