In this Telecommunications Specialist position, you will become a key member of Homeland Security professionals by coordinating and conducting performance measurements on new and advanced wireless telecommunication equipment and techniques.


Typical work assignments include:

Resolving any differences or issues in guidelines to allow for organizational goals to be met, while being consistent with program objectives.

Conducting training to users on telecommunications systems and services including, but not limited to radio, video, access control, systems networking and enforcement technologies.

Serving on joint agency task forces, committees and work groups to coordinate projects, resolve common problems, and establish and modify joint procedures, as necessary.

Participating with engineers in system design to ensure that specialized needs are met. Inspecting and testing specially designed equipment in production. Configuring and maintaining the telecommunications network to service all applicable law enforcement mission applications. Qualifications Experience:

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Determining suitability for service, repair or excess of High Frequency radios, omni/directional antennas and HF Cellular network infrastructure equipment.

Conducting triage and testing of new and advanced HF telecommunication equipment. Maintaining accuracy of equipment status at remote/local facilities and reporting to management. Carrying out all phases of installation, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and operational testing of telecommunications systems.
