Job Overview:

The Senior Assistant Buyer will collaborate with current vendors to curate a distinctive Bloomingdale's collection and explore new vendors to meet customer demand in their assigned business area. They will be responsible for developing and executing strategies by vendor, collaborating with planning to analyze sales trends, and identifying business opportunities. Additionally, they will offer operational support to the buyers. This role serves as a stepping stone towards a buyer position.

Essential Functions:

  • Drive assortment optimization for buying responsibilities within the Buyer's total business area
  • Independently forecast business and provide insights or recommendations based on results
  • Cultivate vendor relationships and negotiate coop allowances
  • Recognize market trends and understand the competitive landscape across channels
  • Conduct analysis to establish major brand and classification strategies for the Divisional Merchandise Manager
  • Conduct business recaps under buyer's guidance

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • We welcome candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field to apply
  • Emphasis on transparent and continuous communication, with a focus on sharing information effectively in a clear, concise manner
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels
  • Capability to think innovatively, strategically, and technically
  • Willingness to adapt to a flexible schedule as per department and company requirements
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications is essential
