About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join Swiss Re as an Underwriting Analyst supporting our International Business Operations team, with particular focus on Casualty / Property local office (reverse flow) insurance coverage. We support the regions outside of North America who have a need to place local coverage in the United States or Canada.

Learn the inner workings of handling International Business by processing quotes, policies & endorsements timely and accurately. As well as providing administrative support to the Local Underwriters and Client Managers.

Duties and responsibilities directly impact productivity, process efficiency, timeliness, profitability, and accuracy of the underwriting process.

This role is US office based. The position is flexible to one of the following offices: Kansas City, MO or Alpharetta, GA. Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office two to three days per week on average.

About the Team

This team is critical to the International Business underwriting process and International Business program success.

  • High interaction and coordination with underwriting, on-shore/off-shore support, as well as other functional areas such as Products, Finance, and Claims.
  • Communicate via email, phone, or in person with Underwriters delivering top notch service to an International base of customers.
  • Follow-up with Underwriters or others globally on outstanding items and documentation. Work on identifying process/system improvement concepts, and critical success factors for achieving high results in operations.
  • Formulate answers to questions, reviewing files, records, and other documentation as needed; disseminate or explain information, take direction, and resolve issues.
  • Conduct preliminary deal analysis; prepare applicable account data for review by underwriter or client manager.
  • Read, coordinate and work with detailed source documents from external customer information, determine appropriate next steps. Compose business correspondence, with input from underwriter (if needed),
  • Collaborate and handle the development/maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures, system / tool improvements and testing/piloting system and process changes.
  • Become a subject matter expert for International Business processes, tools and systems, to act as a resource and coach for others, answering questions and providing direction.
  • Responsible for generating and verifying predefined business reports. High level of competency on more complex systems, tools and processes.
  • Proactively problem solve to meet and exceed client/broker expectations with internal standards. Participate in ongoing reviews and task analysis, making recommendations from which business decisions are based.
  • Attend account meetings, and various training programs to learn new skills, and stay updated with the latest international regulations.
  • Adhere to established performance standards and metrics applicable to the business divisions supported.
  • Participate on special projects, as assigned.

About You

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience; 4-year degree a plus; minimum of 2-4 years of relevant International Business Operations insurance experience preferred.
  • Strong customer focus and service orientation and have excellent digital literacy in Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Demonstrated collaborative approach with strong written and verbal interpersonal communication. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships successfully in a globally located team while being sensitive to cultural differences.
  • Ability to work on complex problems, review detailed information and evaluate options to assist and implement solutions
  • Accurately and efficiently analyze data following established processes and procedures
  • Knack for developing creative solutions based on strengths and weaknesses of processes to develop alternative solutions and approaches to problems
  • Process-oriented toward goals and curious about new technology to be able to apply to daily work and responsibilities
  • Must be fully proficient with English (reading, written and verbal)
