As a Field Equipment Specialist, you will be a key contributor for a variety of activities at the Janesville Research Center.

You will play a key role in supporting all projects at the research center mainly through leading field operations. \r
Responsibilities - What You'll Do: \r

  • Operate agricultural research equipment. This includes tractors, planters, sprayers, forklifts, and research combines \r
  • Perform general maintenance activities on a variety of agricultural equipment \r
  • Validate that equipment is functioning properly and troubleshoot issues \r
  • Provide support to the local group of operators \r
  • Scout fields for weeds or other issues and apply necessary treatments \r
  • During critical times, like planting, pollinating and harvest; weekend work and overtime will be required for the success of the research program. \r
  • Effectively communicate with growers, coworkers, key customers and management \r
  • May manage and direct the work of temporary and seasonal employees \r
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment \r
  • Provide support for other research and safety projects as assigned \r

QualificationsWhat Skills You Need:
\r

Bachelor's degree in agriculture or scientific field preferred. Experience in agronomy, Biology, Plant Breeding or a scientific-related field. Ability to operate agricultural research equipment including tractors, planters, sprayers, forklifts, and research combines \r

  • Technologically Savvy: Competency with standard Microsoft Office programs and capacity to learn new technologies and software. \r
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with diverse groups of people. \r
  • Results Driven: Self-motivated and ability to initiate projects, improvements, decisions, and problem solving. Detail-oriented, strong time management and organizational skills. \r
  • Safety Oriented: Commitment to excellent safety and risk management practices \r

Physical Requirements:
Will be required to do physical lifting and work outdoors and in varying ergonomic environments. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds. \r

  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule including shift work and overtime hours including weekend work required during seasonal peaks \r
  • Additional hours and weekends during seasonal peak periods \r
  • Driver's License, acceptable driving record, and possible ability to obtain CMV \r
  • Ability to obtain a private pesticide applicators license \r
