WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Sr User Experience Designer, you will be a key member of the UX/ UI team at a growth oriented, user-focused company. You will work closely with the Product Delivery Team to understand the business requirements and effectively design and conduct user research to understand user needs, and validate prototype designs using wireframes, sketches and interactive prototypes.
WHERE YOU'LL WORK
This position will work a hybrid schedule from our Burlington, MA or Leawood, KS office location. Remote will be considered within the United States.
HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME
- Use strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to deeply understand complex systems and translate them to intuitive user flows and designs.
- Facilitate user-centered design process by conducting research and applying best-practice design principles.
- Analyze and incorporate quantitative data and qualitative insights into design.
- Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process from concept to detailed design, through wireframes, flow diagrams, and prototypes.
- Collaborate with cross functional team members to iterate on design solutions using design prototyping tools and pattern libraries.
- Support multiple projects, managing and prioritizing your time accordingly.
- Lead and execute all phases of our best-practice design process, which includes using strong communication and leadership skills to work with all levels of users, stakeholders, developers and management.
- Effectively use influencing, consensus building and conflict resolution skills across all levels of the organization to drive efficient design processes and deliver effective solutions.
- Guide design team members and other project contributors to determine the right UX activities and deliverables for various types of projects.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technologies, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Industrial Design OR Graphic/Visual Design field
- Minimum 6+ years of work in user experience position.
- Extensive experience leading high-level strategic research and design of complex software systems, web applications and mobile applications.
- Extensive experience conducting user testing and user research to gain insights and apply them to the design of complex, data-driven systems.
- Extensive experience developing best-practice design artifacts and deliverables including workflows, personas, journey maps, wireframes, interactive design prototypes and high-fidelity design mock-ups.
- Experience working closely with front-end development frameworks, languages and libraries such as Angular Material, D3/JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, , Bootstrap, etc.
- Experience working with design tools like InVision, Axure, Figma and UXPin.
- Working experience with WCAG (508) compliance.
- Working experience with a UI component library with Angular Material and other tools.
- Knowledge of visual design and best practices of UI.
- Vertical specialization. Having worked on specialized systems such as adaptive learning, online education, advanced analytics, monitoring etc. would be beneficial as well.
- Ability to effectively design and conduct user research to understand user needs, and validate prototype designs using wireframes, sketches and interactive prototypes
- Ability to develop multiple design concepts and iterate quickly with low-fidelity interactive prototypes.
- Willingness to contribute strongly to development and maintenance of Ascend Learning's Design System, including visual and interactive standards for component libraries.
- Willingness and ability to progress the organization's user-centered design processes by leading, demonstrating and teaching others through the work you dos
- Knowledge of and ability to schedule, define, plan and execute user research, including but not limited to: task analysis, creation of user stories, and identification of user behavioral patterns.
