Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Meet with prospective HVDC customers to understand their project scope and objectives, influence their technical specifications such that it aligns with the GE reference solution.
  • Support defining of the project scope and interfacing with external engineering, construction and installation contractors to achieve agreed scope split.
  • Create cost effective HVDC plant designs utilizing the GE power electronics solutions, aiming to minimize the total cost, and to specify the main (high-value) items of purchased equipment for tenders (ITO: Inquiry to Order).
  • Provide input in the development and industrialization of GE's reference solution as well as the tools and processes used within.
  • Perform various studies in support of new projects such as network studies, transient studies, harmonic analysis, main circuit design and insulation coordination.
  • Serve as the project technical leader/director to develop scope of work, plan schedule, budgets and monitor engineering activities and deliverables for customer projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and interface with Tendering, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, GE Product Engineering, EHS, Quality, Project Management Sourcing, Engineering sub-contractors.
  • This position is accountable to design all activities in compliance with all applicable codes and standards, including all GE Grid Solutions policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of equipment such as FACTS, GIS, Transformers, P&C, Telecom and SCADA and HV Electrical system engineering.
  • In collaboration with Engineering teams oversee design of HVDC Substation including HVDC and HVAC single line diagrams, plans and elevation drawings for outdoor station equipment, civil works, foundations and buildings.
  • Manage technical risk. Propose and implement design strategy, design, GATE, safety reviews.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, prefer Masters in Power Systems Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of HVDC experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of Leadership experience
