Assistant Director, Admissions

Northfield Mount Hermon seeks a dynamic and motivated individual to ­­­­­identify, recruit, and enroll qualified prospective students and families in accordance with the NMH mission. Each Assistant Director will be responsible for a specific geographic area. Territory responsibilities include travel, phone communication, interviewing and other responsibilities as assigned. Unique to the admission program responsibilities, the Assistant Director will be responsible for an applicant review committee as well as residential duty.

The successful applicant will have a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years related experience; outstanding organizational, written, communication, and interpersonal skills preferred. The ability to travel frequently is required. Candidates must have the ability to process and hold confidential information and exercise independent judgment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and other web-based software is desired. Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, being a self-starter capable of working independently, and lead the Girls Varsity Ice Hockey team at NMH. Ability to work flexible hours and be on call during interim periods, some night and evening work.

Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in making a positive impact on the lives of adolescents and embrace the opportunity to work with a diverse community in a boarding school environment.

Varsity Ice Hockey Coach

In addition to working with the Admissions office, this role requires a dynamic and vibrant individual to lead the Girls Varsity Ice Hockey program at NMH. This position begins in the fall of 2024. While the competitive season runs from Nov. 1st through mid-March, responsibilities will start immediately assisting the admissions office in identifying and enrolling prospective student-athletes. This recruitment process could include some travel for the head coach.


The successful applicant will have at least a bachelor's degree (master's preferred), be proficient in ice hockey tactics and strategy, and have the ability to intentionally build a positive and inclusive team culture. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience, which should include playing and/or coaching at the secondary or collegiate level.


The candidate will be responsible for leading all recruitment efforts of prospective student-athletes as well as supporting current students throughout the college process. Additional qualifications include strong listening skills, highly developed interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, and experience in DEI work with a clear understanding of anti-bias
education.
