Builds RESTful Application Programing Interfaces (APIs) using Spring Boot, Java, and Python. Develops, innovates, and advocates to improve technical design. Implements single and multi-tenant data solutions and Cloud database technologies using Snowflake or Azure SQL. Reports on project specifications, activities, and status. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

Participates in architecture design teams. Defines and implements application level architecture. Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division. Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans. Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables. Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems. Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms. Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget. Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects. Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects. Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues. Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives. Advises senior management on technical strategy. Mentors junior team members. Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives. Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing multi-tenant data solutions for websites, data warehouses, and APIs using SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Informatica, java, and Python.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing multi-tenant data solutions for websites, data warehouses, and APIs using SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Informatica, java, and Python.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") designing, developing, and delivering database code; constructing datasets in Operational Data Store (ODS) and data warehouse environments, using SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, UTPL/SQL, Informatica Power Center or Python (for database ETL/ELT), Cloud technologies - Microsoft Azure databases, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Snowflake; and tuning SQL query performance using TOAD, SQL developer, MySQL workbench, and DataGrip. DE defining, developing, and implementing methodologies for moving data to and from in-memory databases to on-premise and Cloud databases using Talend, SnapLogic, Informatica Cloud; and performing software development according to Test Driven Development (TDD) and Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) methodologies. DE developing and supporting business critical applications within financial services and benefits administration environments; triaging and addressing production incidents to mitigate business impact and identifying root cause, using Datadog, CloudWatch logs, and capacity reports; performing data analysis and modeling - logical and physical - using Power Designer, MySQL workbench or Oracle SQL developer data modeler; and performing data visualization and KPI dashboard development, using Tableau, SSRS, and Python libraries - Pandas and Seaborn. DE applying Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices on database releases - automated deployments - using AKS/EKS/Docker, Jenkins, and Urban Code Deploy (uDeploy); applying software development best practices - source code management - using Git, Stash and SourceTree; mentoring and coaching peers and junior team members in the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC); and driving epics, stories, and tasks, using project management methodologies - Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Jira.
