The Facilities Services & Planning ("FS&P") division plays a key role in helping Stanford Health Care accomplish this mission. With a fast-paced, tech-savvy and lean culture that focuses on goals, metrics and continuous improvement, FS&P provides non-clinical operational support to Stanford Health Care and other Stanford Medicine entities to ensure safe and successful non-clinical operations 24/7 and plan for the organization's future facility needs.This is a Stanford Health Care job.

A Brief Overview
The Director of Facilities Systems Engineering is responsible for the strategic direction of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing standards across Stanford Health Care. This position will direct, and own the planning, and development of the Facilities Systems Engineering Department with a focus on reliability and maintainability of new and modified equipment, processes, utilities, facilities controls and safety/security systems. A key liaison between operations and the construction groups within Stanford Medicine, this position will lead personnel per the policies, procedures, goals, mission, and vision of Stanford Medicine, and regulatory requirements of bodies such as The Joint Commission. Representing Facilities Systems Engineering efforts, this position will lead opportunities, process improvements, and resource requirements and present to senior leadership.

What you will do
  • Provides and oversees technical guidance and on-the-job training to less experienced design and engineering personnel and subordinate managers. Consults on training plans for maintenance, construction, and facility management staff
  • Oversees operational process and people. Develops and directs priorities including initiatives and departmental goals that support organization-wide and business unit initiatives.
  • Owns the preparation of the department budget and has budget accountability
  • Owns engineering-design concepts reliability objectives and the Risk Management Plan of major projects impacting plant operation.
  • Reviews the design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans or oversees those doing so.
  • Develops and updates the organization's Facility Design Guidelines..
  • Oversees program for the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical Maintenance Repair Office (MRO) suppliers and technical maintenance service providers. This includes developing acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
  • Oversees engineers performing sign-off and approval of commissioning of new equipment installations. This may include factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications.
  • Responsible for professionally and systematically defining, designing, developing, monitoring, and refining through Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and an Asset Maintenance Plan (AMP) that includes:
  • Value-added preventive maintenance tasks
  • Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
  • Assessment of effective asset utilization; remaining useful lifecycle
  • Provides engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility the Director applies:
  • Data analysis techniques that can include:
  • Statistical Process Control Reliability modeling and prediction Fault Tree Analysis
  • Weibull Tree Analysis
  • Six Sigma (Ga) Methodology
  • Root-Cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA)
  • Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
  • Decision maker on subcontractor proposals for reliability programs and other related programs.
  • Monitors data generated by Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) for assets to ascertain potential requirement for process improvement.
  • Leads the 5- and 10-year capital plans for Facilities Investment Recapitalization Program (FIRP) for Stanford Health Care and creates individual project submissions as needed.
  • Oversees the solutioning of escalated operational problems and technical issues that field technicians are unable to troubleshoot
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor of Science degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
  • Master of Science degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Preferred
Experience Qualifications
  • Ten (10) years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant engineering principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices and standards and their application.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to and deal with change and ambiguity.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD files, 3 D models and sketches.
  • Ability to solve problems and identify solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility.
  • Know ledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems; Utility and/or Electrical monitoring systems; SCADA systems; and Enterprise Asset Management System (BMS) or Computer Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) systems.
  • Familiarity with the interdisciplinary nature of healthcare operations.
Licenses and Certifications
  • CADL - California Drivers License - Valid And In State required
  • CMRP - Certified Maintenance And Reliability preferred
  • Certified Reliability Engineer preferred
  • Certified Reliability Leader preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $ $114.41 per hour
