The primary purpose of this position is to operate gasoline or diesel powered engineering and construction heavy equipment to complete a variety of Service Projects at various locations.
Operators will operate a variety of types of heavy equipment to push, pull, pile, or load materials such as sand, gravel and earth while excavating, backfilling, grading, or leveling earth to specifications on such projects like repairing and breaking new ground for trails, roads, canals, tunnels, or construction sitesHeavy equipment may include:
bulldozers, excavators, road graders, skid steers, backhoes, wheeled and tracked loaders, backhoes, wheeled equipment/vehicles, and specialized equipment
Implements may include:
mowers, cutter bars, drum choppers, augers, plows, harrows, sprayers, discs, etc.
Performs daily preventative maintenance and makes repairs and adjustments to equipment and attachments to equipment.
This includes, but is not limited to, replacing chains and belts, cables, lubrication, and filter changes, battery checks, changing dozer teeth and safety inspections.
Operator must follow safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing.Follows all federal and state rules when storing, using, handling, labeling, and disposing of hazardous materials in accordance with environmental standards.
Keeps work area clean and orderly.Maintain, repair, or construct a variety of structures and surfaces of brick, block, stone, and other related materials; May perform limited assignments in the installation or repair of complex industrial electrical systems.
This may include repairing or hooking up items such as outlets, switches, light fixtures, regulators, and circuit breakers.Performs habitat restoration and conservation tasks
