About the FSSA Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA):

The Division of Mental Health and Addition is a division within the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. DMHA sets care standards for Indian providers. We certify all community mental health centers and addiction treatment service providers.

We also operate six state behavioral health hospitals and provide funding to support mental health and addiction services for targeted populations.


Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $53,222. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

Role Overview:


The Community Reintegration Specialist oversees strategies for adults and youth to safely and appropriately transition from non-community settings to community-based treatment.

You will research and identify gaps and barriers to transition back to individual communities.

You will maintain contacts within the state mental health system and work with these individuals to suggest appropriate settings for individuals.

Additionally, you will oversee residential programs for those with Serious Mental Illness and co-occurring disorders.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are:

  • Research and identify gaps and barriers to transition to community based services.
  • Work with teams to assist with the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Maintain contacts within the state mental health system and work with these individuals to suggest appropriate settings for individuals with mental health needs.
  • Oversee residential programs with the target population of individuals with Serious Mental Illness and co occurring disorders;
  • Oversee data transparency efforts for mental health group homes including, but not limited to, bed availability, treatment program overview, contract compliance, and certification regulations;
  • Research trends in mental health programming to develop and award grant opportunities for vendors throughout the state.
  • Oversee all procurement processes associated with the grant awards.
  • Ensure policy compliance for existing and new federal and state requirements for community based services and the ADA Olmstead Act.
  • Monitor changes in federal programs, laws, rules, and regulations.
Recommend responses and actions to leadership.

  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance / Quality Improvement Special Needs Alliance Housing Equity teams.
  • Document and communicate findings, information, and data gathered during site visits.
  • Participation in DMHA staff meetings and workgroups.
  • Respond to information requests from the public and as assigned for Governor's office and legislative inquiries.
  • Participate when requested in planning DMHA sponsored conferences, trainings, all staff meetings, and policy and programming meetings.
  • Assist with youth oriented projects as needed.

What You'll Need for Success:

Credentials:

  • Bachelor's degree with two years of related experience, OR
  • Associate's degree with four years of related experience, OR
  • High school diploma or High School Equivalency with six years of related experience.

Additional qualifications:

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, and policies related to mental health.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, summarize, and communicate information and formulate recommendations as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Able to coordinate and manage work with other agency staff, advisory groups, and committees to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Able to work effectively with stakeholders including consumers, family members, advocates, and mental health service providers.
  • Knowledge of program development, planning, and evaluation methods.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
