The UM Marketing and Communications sector invites applicants for a Graphic Designer to artistically and creatively support Montana's flagship public institution.

The graphic designer assigned to this position is responsible for designing and producing a suite of University of Montana (UM) graphically designed materials, that include publications, graphics, advertising (both in print and electronically), all while maintaining the integrity and energy of the UM brand and the university's visual identity.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the person assigned to this position will assist the Senior Graphic Designer in creating a diverse range of visual communications. These include:

  • Publications
  • Social Media Assets
  • Branding campaigns
  • Special events packages
  • Other presentation materials and products to meet the University's communications and marketing needs.

Because the individual assigned to this position will be in contact with various clients across campus as well as off-site vendors, this position requires an ability to maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive information, tact, sensitivity, and professionalism.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Excellent print and digital design skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Knowledge of the creative process in order to effectively gauge workloads and manage deadlines
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Unwavering attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to multitask between small and large-scale projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented atmosphere
  • Ability to communicate ideas to colleagues and clients in an articulate, professional manner
  • Collaborative spirit and excellent people skills
  • Ability to take direction and work in a creative team environment, as well as work on projects independently

Minimum Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field, as well as at least two (2) years of related work experience; or any combination of education and experience

Position Details

Department: UM Marketing and Communications

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 hr/wk),

Monday- Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year,

Some nights and weekends possible

Salary: $20.839/hr

Union Affiliation: FOCUS-MFPE

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
