Position Summary:

The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) will oversee and lead all advancement activities, including strategic planning, development, fundraising, communications, marketing, and stakeholder engagement. The CAO will also play a pivotal role in spearheading foundational fundraising efforts and community engagement initiatives to support the campus planning and redevelopment project of Austin Montessori School and begin to build a sustainable infrastructure for resource development. Reporting directly to the Head of School, and working closely with the Board of Directors, the CAO will lead strategy, cultivation, and stewardship activities to ensure the successful execution of a major capital fundraising campaign.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive advancement strategies to support the school's mission and objectives.
  2. Fundraising Leadership: Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support for the school, including major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants.
  3. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Cultivate strong relationships with current and prospective donors, engaging them in the school's vision and soliciting their support for the school and capital campaign.
  4. Community Engagement: Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and other stakeholders to foster a sense of community and involvement.
  5. Campaign Management: Oversee all aspects of the capital campaign, including goal setting, budgeting, volunteer management, and progress tracking, to ensure timely and successful completion.
  6. Marketing and Communications: Develop compelling marketing materials, donor communications, and public relations campaigns to raise awareness of the school and engage the broader community.
  7. Board Engagement: Work closely with the Board of Directors to enlist their support in fundraising activities and leverage their networks to expand fundraising reach.
  8. Data Management and Analysis: Utilize fundraising software and data analytics tools to track donor interactions, analyze fundraising trends, and inform decision-making. Application Process:

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.

    Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, preferably in educational or capital campaign settings.

    Proven track record of successfully soliciting major gifts and meeting fundraising goals.

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse range of stakeholders.

    Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies.

    Experience managing fundraising campaigns, including budgeting, planning, and evaluation.

    Knowledge of fundraising best practices, ethical standards, and legal regulations.

    Proficiency in fundraising software, database management, and data analysis tools.
