Remote, Oregon, United States Bestow Full time

ABOUT BESTOW

Bestow is a leading insurance technology platform serving some of the world's largest and most innovative life insurers. We are on a mission to increase financial stability for everyone. Bestow is a team of mission-driven, results-oriented individuals. We offer all employees a remote (continuous 48 only)/hybrid workplace, meaningful benefits, substantial growth opportunities, and equity.

Bestow participates in the E-Verify Program.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The engineering team is responsible for all technology for Bestow and the Bestow Platform. We serve employees, consumers, and enterprise customers. In addition to building software, we integrate and manage many third-party products used by employees and as part of the platform. Our major functional teams are product engineering, infrastructure, IT, data and analytics, martech, and program management. Engineering works closely with product management and design to define and prioritize the product roadmap.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role reports to the Manager of Engineering and is open to (US) Remote (continuous 48 only) #LI-Remote

As a Platform Engineer, you will automate cloud resources, implement developer tooling, and make changes to our products to increase their manageability. You should be able to define the technical design and implement work independently. You should have prior experience with systems administration and cloud service automation.

Bestow engineers are great teammates. You will spend most of your time with the Platform Engineers working on projects laying the cloud's foundation. You will also work directly with Product Engineering teams on their specific needs and build tooling and automation.

Do you want to build products to reinvent a centuries-old industry? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

Challenges on which you can expect to work:

Cloud Infrastructure Projects

We believe that all cloud infrastructure should be treated as code. Modifications go through code review and are executed via CI tools.

Automate cloud infrastructure via tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.

Administer our software platform, which includes Kubernetes, Pulumi Cloud, ArgoCD, CircleCI, and PostgreSQL.

Contribute to projects in languages such as TypeScript, Python, Go, or Bash.

Evaluate, design, and implement solutions for continuous integration, continuous delivery, and DevOps productivity.

Ensure the Reliability of Our Software

Great software is more than product features. It simultaneously considers non-functional concerns like security, maintainability, and extensibility. You are responsible for ensuring:

Collaborate with product engineers to identify observability/configurability gaps and make code-level improvements;

Creating the tooling to improve the developer experience, enabling them to deliver business value faster and more effectively;

Manage runbooks for incident response;

Measure operational performance and make gradual improvements.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Proficiency with GCP or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Familiarity with Typescript, Go, or similar
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or similar.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  • Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with version control tools like git and GitHub.
  • Bonus if familiar with using observability platforms such as New Relic or Datadog.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

TOTAL REWARDS

At Bestow, we're proud to be awarded for our team members, innovative products, and culture. Our standard benefits include:

Competitive salary and equity based on role

Policies and managers that support work/life balance, like our flexible paid time off and parental leave programs

100% paid-premium option for medical, dental, and vision insurance

We understand the importance of creating a safe and comfortable work environment and encourage individualism and authenticity in every team member.
