POSITION DUTIES

The Director of Government Affairs leads the government affairs department within the Office of the Comptroller and will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to advance the Comptroller's legislative and policy priorities at the state, local, and federal levels. This includes working with the state and intergovernmental operations within the department.\r

The Director of Government Affairs is a member of the Comptroller's leadership team and is essential in achieving the core mission of the department and the agency.�\r
\r
\r
This role has several direct reports and works closely with the Chief of Staff and the Comptroller to set the strategic priorities and operating expectations for the department.�\r
\r
\r
No two days will look the same in this role and you will have your hands in many different projects, initiatives, and tasks while working within your department as well as across departments.�\r
\r
\r
A successful candidate is able to work in a fast-paced environment and is able to balance numerous competing priorities. This position requires a deep understanding of government processes, strong communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.\r
\r
\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�Possession\r
of a�Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university\r
in Public Administration or Policy, Economics, Government, Business\r
Administration, or related field\r
Experience: Six years of recent professional experience\r
in policy analysis, economic development, legislation, or business, with 3\r
years of legislative and/or policy affairs experience; 2 years of the total\r
experience must also include the supervision of employees, and/or overseeing\r
and coordinating operations of a unit.\r
\r
\r

Additional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.���\r
Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required general experience.���\r
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher-ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.\r

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This position may be required to work irregular hours on evenings and weekends, especially during the Legislative Session (January-April).�\r
