Lower or Middle School Spanish Teacher

St. Anne's School is a two-year-old through Eighth Grade, co-educational, private Episcopal school located in scenic Annapolis, Maryland. Annapolis is a lively, historic seaport city within close proximity to Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. Our core curricular approach is based on central-subject studies, the project approach and Reggio-inspired approach to learning, a structured literacy/humanities workshop approach, robust foreign language instruction, and a rigorous, conceptual mathematics program. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, assesses, and modifies, as necessary, a dynamic Spanish language program for Lower or Middle School students that aligns with the St. Anne's School of Annapolis mission, vision, and values
  • Uses a variety of methods, materials, and techniques to teach Spanish language and culture
  • Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Implements progressive teaching and learning activities where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences, including project based learning
  • Organizes classroom systems and procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged and learning
  • Assesses students' knowledge for the purposes of refining classroom activities and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding students' progress
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned by their Program Director Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, unless native speaker; Master's Degree in education preferred
    • Minimum two years' experience teaching Spanish, preferably in an independent school
    • Fluency and expertise in conversational and written Spanish
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English
    • Knowledge of current research and best practices in brain-based teaching and learning
