EMERGENCY MEDICINE- VICE CHAIR, CLINICAL OPERATIONS

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Responsible for clinical operations in the EDs at Baystate Medical Center, our academic center, as well as our 3 community hospitals. This system-level position reports to the Chair of EM and is responsible for supervision of the ED site Chiefs (Medical Directors) of the 3 community hospitals, plus the adult and pediatric EM Chiefs at the academic center.
  • Collaborate closely with EM Dept. Chair, Administrative Director, EM Chiefs, Hospitalist System Chief as well as other key quality and operations leaders. Promote strong relationships with physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses and interdisciplinary colleagues.
  • Key focus areas include capacity and throughput management, the Daily Management System, and quality metrics.
  • Provide leadership and vision in the areas of financial and disaster planning, dept. budgeting, recruitment, and retention.
  • Participate in determining capital, strategic, and operating resources for the EM system.
  • Institute quality programs and lead initiatives that demonstrate improvement in identified at-risk situations.
  • Combination of clinical care and teaching of EM fellows, residents, and medical students with a faculty appointment at UMass Chan Medical School- Baystate.
  • This position is 0.5 FTE clinical with 0.5 FTE protected administrative time.

QUALIFICATIONS:
ABMS BC in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine.

Demonstrated leadership experience initiating and maintaining successful operational goals in the areas of safety, quality, patient experience, value and leadership.

MBA desirable, but not required.
