Baystate Health is a not-for-profit, integrated healthcare system in western Massachusetts that consists of an academic medical center, three community hospitals and the region's largest multispecialty group.
Our flagship hospital, Baystate Medical Center, is home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School-Baystate. We are seeking a Vice Chair of Pathology to join our employed physician team at Baystate Medical Center.

Highlights of this position:
- Develops systems and processes that ensure safe, timely and reliable care. Leads initiatives that demonstrate improvement in identified/at risk situations. Role models culture of safety and works with others to ensure safe work environment. Knowledgeable of regulatory standards & works to ensure team achieves those standards
- Institutes quality programs and develops, measures and reports results through quality structure. Knowledgeable of best practice standards & develops systems and processes to achieve excellence.
- Role models respectful and collaborative care/service to patients, families, and providers. Ensures systems are in place to deliver timely care and service based on customer need. Evaluates patient/customer satisfaction and implements novel approaches for team to meet/exceed expectations. Puts processes in place to support Access to Healthcare and Hospital Capacity Management.
- Has working knowledge of financials in area of responsibility. Chairs the multidisciplinary Lab Utilization Management (LUM) Committee for appropriate test validations. Develops programs and processes that improve efficacy and reduces cost of care. Participates in determining capital, strategic, and operating resources necessary for assigned area.
- Role models leadership behavior and works with team to develop cohesion and shared goals. Mentors team members to support their professional development, academics, and research. Demonstrates professional behavior & leads by example when handling conflict/difficult situations. Utilizes formal and informal communication channels to ensure team is informed and engaged.
