Job title: DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Palo Alto, CA (Hybrid)

SUMMARY:

The DevOps/Infrastructure engineer will be directly responsible for supporting all developer and IT operations on premises and in the cloud. This person will work closely with various parts of the organization to build and improve software releases, customer acquisitions and new product and feature introductions. This person will also ensure platforms are efficiently built, measured and managed to align with the business expectations and that all compliance requirements are met including, but not limited to: HIPAA, SOC2, HITRUST and federal and state security and compliance regulations. An understanding of change management processes is key. To be successful, the candidate should be customer focused (internal) and comfortable working as a partner in all aspects of development and production to increase productivity, create scalability, and is technically adept in a fast-paced start-up environment. This position reports to the Senior Manager, DevOps and will be a key member of the IT & Security Team.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure Hyperfine can honor its Service Level Agreements with customers, including service uptime, data retention and handling, performance requirements, etc.
  • Implement and maintain scalable infrastructure for a rapidly growing user base.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and development teams to identify areas of improvement for various development processes and practices.
  • Design and build software infrastructure in cloud and on premises based on requirements specified by Technical lead or Sr. DevOps engineer.
  • Update AWS environments, develop provisioning and orchestration, maintain network infrastructure (VPCs, load balancers, DNS, proxy servers, etc.) based on established best practices set by Technical Lead or Sr. DevOps Engineer.
  • Engineer and automate device and cloud environments for security and reliability based on product requirements.
  • Design and optimize robust CI/CD pipelines for cloud, device, and data processing pipelines.
  • Collect and build platforms according to the compliance requirements including HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2, HITRUST and federal and state security and compliance regulations.
  • Actively contribute to effectively build, deploy, and maintain software environments for platform development based on requirements and planning from technical lead or Sr. DevOps Engineer.
  • Initial troubleshooting of all production-related issues and escalation of relevant outages to Sr. Manager and/or Sr. DevOps Engineer.
  • Work effectively across engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute independently to projects and provide help and guidance to junior engineers.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL:

  • Knowledge of AWS foundational technologies (EC2, ECS Fargate, EKS, Lambda)
  • Proficient in using Terraform to build modules for deploying applications in AWS
  • Proficient in using Docker to build and deploy applications
  • Proficient in CICD and Scripting for automation
  • Experience with RBAC design and provisioning for users
  • Investigation skills to review detailed Infrastructure and configurations

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree within a related Computer Science/Engineering Degree
  • 5+ Years of relevant experience within the Software Industry space
  • 3+ years of experience in a DevOps or Development role
  • 3+ years of experience with the AWS ecosystem (e.g. ECS, EKS, S3, EC2, IAM, etc...)
  • Proficiency with a variety of programming, scripting, and configuration languages including Python and Bash.
  • Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools, such as Terraform
  • Containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes
  • Experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to speak, write, and use all office equipment including scanner and printer, phone, computer, etc.
  • Both onsite and remote work. Onsite work required as needed per tasks and engagements that require onsite availability.
