About the Team

Our Data Platform and Observability team, located in Pleasanton, CA; Boston, MA and Dublin, Ireland, is vital to enabling real-time insights across Workday's platforms, infrastructure, and applications. We're committed to developing large-scale, distributed data systems that support crucial Workday applications.
Our team provides software for the collection, ingestion, storage, analytics, and visualization of critical data assets. We manage hundreds of terabytes of data, encapsulating billions of messages produced daily by Workday applications and services.
We are looking for an Analytics leader who has a mix of business, product and technical skills. This leader has the opportunity to build amazing data products by leveraging vast repositories of Operational product & observability data. About the Role

  • Develop internal data products by finding opportunities and take the initiative to build such products.
  • Construct foundational analytics tables with a canonical schema that power a majority of the analytics use cases.
  • Build an outstanding self-service platform that powers sophisticated analytics and ML use cases.
  • Lead cross-functional projects, applying sophisticated data modeling and analysis techniques to generate insights for strategic decisions and optimization opportunities.
  • Build and maintain data models, consolidate data across various systems, correlate data, automate data systems, dashboards, and performance metrics that support critical business decisions.
  • Innovate on next-generation ML and AI platforms by demonstrating existing data to uncover new opportunities.
  • Evaluate and implement new open-source and cloud-native tools and technologies as needed.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • You have a BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • You have 5+ years leading data science/analytics engineering teams and drawing insights from data
  • Consistent track record of delivering high quality data products at scale

Other Qualifications

  • Must be a self-starter i.e. find opportunities, build a case and deliver.
  • Must have experience with big data analytics tools such as Hadoop, Spark, SQL, Superset, Notebooks, Dbt etc
  • Must have good coding/scripting skills (Java or Python ).
  • Good storytelling abilities using data visualization tools( like Superset, Light dash, Looker etc.) that provide actionable insights.
  • Public cloud experience(AWS/GCP). Experience with Infrastructure Automation.
  • Ability to work with less supervision - must be able to chart their own course by daring goal setting, priorities, roadmap and vision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate's compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $200,000 USD - $300,000 USD

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $163,400 USD - $300,000 USD
