The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

The purpose of this position is:

  • Manufacturing Leads are experienced production team members that provide leadership, training, and/or specialized skills.
  • This position applies to Associates that have at least 2 years of experience as a production lead, or 2 years of set-up experience, or to Associates that support the production set-up function, or to Associates with experience in all Plating processes.

This position includes significant duties such as:

  • Work in a team environment to optimize output of quality product, assist others as necessary and promote safety awareness
  • Must be able to read and follow routers, work instructions, and drawings
  • Requires use of company applications which may include SAP, Microsoft Office, Windchill, etc
  • May include proficiency in all production processes such as assembly, solder, heat treat, deburr or lapping
  • May include experience and demonstrated proficiency leading work teams by providing work assignments, training, reporting, troubleshooting, team communications, and leadership
  • Perform inspection to identify good product from bad product and take appropriate corrective actions
  • May include supporting the production set-up function including active problem solving and hands on training to production Associates
  • Associates are expected to know performance metrics and work toward targeted objectives
  • Associates should proactively report any part, process, or equipment issues as soon as they become aware
  • The above description covers the most significant duties performed but does not exclude other occasional work assignments not mentioned

Working Conditions:

  • Working at a table with small parts, tools, and a microscope for the duration of the shift

Education/Experience:

  • High School or General Education Diploma
  • Over 2 years of technical/leadership experience is required for the Manufacturing Lead position

The range for this position is ​$26.00 hourly rate - $31.00 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
