The nurse practitioner (NP) is to practice to the full extent of their education, training and certification, without the clinical supervision or mandatory collaboration of physicians, as a licensed independent practitioner to provide patient care service. Collaborates with other disciplines to develop, implement, and coordinate a system of patient care delivery that promotes high quality care, patient satisfaction, positive outcomes, appropriate utilization of resources.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Independent practitioner with advanced education and appropriate experience who provides evidence-based care for a specific population of patients.
- The NP uses advanced assessment, planning and evaluation, as well as approved standardized procedures, to provide preventive and illness management healthcare incorporating the patient's age, gender, culture and learning abilities in the treatment plan.
- The NP works collaboratively with many disciplines to provide care, including physicians, pharmacists, registered nurses, licensed practical/vocational nurses, dietitians, social workers, clerical and administrative staff, community agencies and others as appropriate.
- The NP executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care.
- A proficient nurse, who understands a situation as a whole and perceives its meaning in terms of long-term goals.
- The proficient nurse learns from experience what typical events to expect in a given situation and how plans need to be modified in response to these events.
- Demonstrates performance and leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.
Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
