Job Summary

Dominion Energy (DE) is seeking a Supervisor for the Electric Transmission (ET) Strategic Initiatives team within the ET Planning & Strategic Initiatives group. Because of our clean energy goals, unique forecasted load growth, and commitment to the safety and reliability of the bulk electric system, DE must explore unconventional solutions to meet our customer's needs. This is a new team dedicated to evaluating technologies and methodologies that could be used to support ET. The team also performs and manages the transmission component of the Integrated Resources Plan (IRP) filed in the states of Virginia and North Carolina.

A successful candidate for this role will provide both direct supervision to the Strategic Initiatives team as well as serve as a proactive, vocal advocate for the team and their mission within Dominion Energy and the broader industrial community. The supervisor supports and facilitates long-term goals that serve the team's central competencies - using power systems fundamentals and modeling skills to better plan and operate the power system of the future. They will provision resources for capital project execution through collaboration with Electric Transmission and IT leadership. The supervisor will develop and implement strategies for team growth, recruitment, and efficient onboarding and training. The role includes all typical supervisory and administrative responsibilities commensurate with the management of high-performing individual contributors in a large, engineering organization in addition to other duties as requested or assigned.

The supervisor will be responsible for a team that supports the following topics:

Analysis and planning for significant increase in renewable energy on transmission networks.

Performing evaluation, design, engineering, and support activities related to advanced power systems technologies such as FACTS, HVDC, inverter-based resources, and grid-enhancing technologies.

Conducting research, development, and demonstration of leading-edge tools, technologies, and applications to maintain Dominion's leadership position in the industry.

Support of transmission related studies of the IRP.

Support of the legal team during the subsequent filing and litigation stages of the process.

Addresses Dominion's specialized engineering needs as an internal engineering clearinghouse and/or validate third-party consulting performance.

Assists in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of computer-based tools for Dominion Energy's engineering groups.

Power system network model validation, merging, and management across traditional reliability platforms and more market-based solutions.

Analysis of multiple infrastructure interdependencies.

Performs manufacturer evaluations and support material requisitions as needed.

The supervisor does not need expertise in all of these areas but should have familiarity with them and the ability to learn as needed.

Must be able to meet NERC qualifications.
