The incumbent will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic.

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:

Constructs, repairs, or renovates National Weather Service (NWS) facilities including cables and power distribution, electrical wiring, and conduits.
Performs work to maintain and upgrade NWS facilities.

Work may include, but is not limited to, general building maintenance and repair; HVAC service; grounds maintenance; utility systems, furniture, etc.

Provides facility planning support to/for buildings, structures, architectural and environmental components, utility systems, roads and grounds, land development, equipment, tools, and vehicles which directly and or indirectly support the mission and operation of NWS Alaska Region.

Utilizes NWS Engineering Maintenance Reporting System (EMRS) to log maintenance or repair actions.

Coordinates with the Facilities and Electronics departments located in the Regional Headquarters to maintain and repair station facilities and electronics.

Requisitions supplies and services for the office and transient housing as needed using a Government Purchase Card (GPC).
