Summary:

Petroplan is in search of a Senior Attorney on behalf of a Houston based Exploration and Production company to play a key role in adding to the growing legal team's capabilities.

This role involves navigating SEC regulations, alongside other governmental mandates impacting the energy sector. We prioritize candidates with knowledge of labor law and experience in public companies. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with pertinent laws, draft and review contracts, conduct legal research, and represent the company in legal proceedings. They will collaborate closely with senior management and various departments to align strategies with the company's core values.

This position is based in the Houston Corporate office on a hybrid schedule

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal counsel to internal stakeholders on E&P operations.
  • Oversee and contribute to the drafting, review, and negotiation of transactional documents for domestic and international business transactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address issues comprehensively.
  • Manage litigation matters.
  • Develop and implement corporate policies.
  • Stay updated on legal and regulatory changes.
  • Supervise external legal counsel.
    Qualifications/Requirements:
    • Juris Doctorate Degree (JD).
    • 15 years' of legal experience, with a focus on the oil & gas industry.
    • Strong understanding of SEC and government regulations, as well as industry best practices.
    • Experience in public companies, including familiarity with regulatory filings such as 10-K, proxy, and Form 4.
    • Strong grasp of contractual aspects in the energy sector.
    • Exposure to labor law.
