Overview Under the direction of a Track Supervisor, or other company official, this position is engaged in welding and related tasks that support the maintenance, repair, and construction of freight and passenger railroad track with a "safety first" focus Responsibilities Direct and instruct equipment operators in safe and efficient work performance, guaranteeing compliance with all rules, regulations and instructions.Responsible for training welder helper(s) to provide safe and efficient relief for position.Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.Must have a valid driver's license and valid credentials required by federal and state laws, including CDL Class B.Ability work a non-standard work week, overtime, and various shift work Be familiar with and understand FRA Track Safety Standards Part 213 Subpart A to G, as published by the Federal Railroad Administration; must have A & B qualifications.Complete annual training and pass safety and track worker rules examinations.Must be capable of operating all FEC Maintenance of Way vehicles in its fleet, both manual and automatic, and must qualify and secure motor car maintainer permit.Upon employment, new hire must successfully complete and pass all FEC Rules Classes: Safety, Operating, and Roadway Worker.
