Role Summary:

We're looking for a highly motivated and self-directed individual for our Continuous Improvement (EGX) Engineer position. In this role the Continuous Improvement (EGX) Engineer will be responsible for driving strategic alignment of continuous improvement activities across the Foot and Ankle business unit operations. The Continuous Improvement (EGX) Engineer will lead efforts related to training, kaizen, process improvement projects, GEMBA walks, daily management, and productivity projects. This role will lead the lean journey, continuing to drive operational transformation and maturity. This role reports to the Vice President of Operations and will be actively engaged in all critical processes across the business to simplify work and drive improvement to deliver value to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

The following are the primary duties and responsibilities of this role. Other related duties may be assigned to meet the business need.

  • Promote Lean Six Sigma practices by educating the organization in the use of lean principles.
  • Utilize Lean Six Sigma tools (i.e., value stream mapping, Kaizen, 5S, Gemba walks, DMAIC, root cause problem solving) to identify and develop solutions that drive operational improvement.
  • Provide leadership by mentoring associates in the use of lean tools, ensuring transfer of knowledge, and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Coach, guide, empower, and mentor production staff and supervisors in the use of Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Collect and analyze data on plant processes, procedure, and performance using evaluation tools and make recommendations for improvement to Leadership Team.
  • Track, Monitor, and report regularly on status of projects.
  • Monitor product and process improvement milestones to ensure on-time completion and sustainability.
  • Analyze, develop, ratify, implement, and standardize best practices across the network.
  • Audit all established Lean Six Sigma processes to ensure sustainability.

Minimum Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or STEM-related field
  • Certification in Lean or Six Sigma, with prior experience both leading and facilitating events
  • At least 5 years of experience in operations, manufacturing, process improvement or related field. Medical Device experience is a plus.

Work environment | Physical Demands

  • Ability to travel via automobile and/or airplane as needed (travel out of the Houston metropolitan area will be needed)
  • Ability to tug, pull, or lift up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
