About the job:
The Employment Intern is integral to supporting employment specialists and ensuring the successful implementation of employment services for clients. This position involves a diverse range of tasks, including teaching job readiness, creating resumes, guiding clients through essential processes like public transportation and documentation acquisition, and conducting mock interviews. By collaborating with IRC staff and external organizations, the intern will help provide comprehensive services to clients, aligning with the IRC's mission to support self-sufficiency and successful integration into the workforce.

Responsibilities:
Employment Services Support: Assist employment specialists by completing a variety of employment services tasks in a timely manner, ensuring clients receive the support they need for successful job placement.
Resume Preparation: Create initial client resumes to prepare both the client and employment specialist for the employment search process.
Public Transportation Guidance: Guide clients through public transportation orientations, helping them navigate their local transit systems to reach job interviews and employment locations.
Mock Interviews: Conduct mock interviews with clients to prepare them for their initial job placement, providing feedback and boosting their confidence.
Documentation Assistance: Assist clients with accessing state documentation and benefits, such as obtaining Texas State IDs.
Collaboration: Work closely with employment specialist, IRC staff, and outside organizations to ensure holistic services for clients.
Record Keeping: Document client interactions and services provided through detailed case notes and file documentation, in accordance with program requirements. Input client information into databases and assist with tracking and reporting as needed.
Interpretation Services: Provide interpretation services when applicable, to facilitate clear communication between clients and service providers.

Requirements:
Fluency in spoken and written English
Knowledge of Farsi and/or Ukranian
Must be culturally sensitive, respectful of diverse backgrounds, and willing to work with English language learners; previous cross-cultural communication experience is a plus.
Educational background in social work or equivalent work experience serving low-to-moderate income immigrant populations (including refugees, asylum seekers, etc.) preferred.
Flexibility, patience, and willingness to learn/perform reasonable duties as needed.
Engaged in learning about the IRC mission, philosophy, global work, and local efforts.
Willing to adhere to IRC volunteer workplace policies.
