Position Summary:
The Position
The School of Business Administration invites applications for a non tenure track Lecturer. This is a nine-month position, beginning August 16, 2024, that is annually renewable, offers full benefits, and a pathway to promotion. This position provides an exciting opportunity for experienced business professionals as well as academics to set students on a pathway of success. The successful candidate will teach BIZ 201 Business Cases and Communications, an introduction to business course required of all first-year business students, and Career Flight Plan courses such as BIZ 202 Career Flight Take Off and BIZ 301 Successfully Navigating Your Career Flight Plan. The Business Cases and Communications course provides students with a foundation in business disciplines and professional writing and oral communication skills. The Career Flight Plan courses provide students with a foundation for navigating internship and full-time job searches and for professional success after graduation.

Key duties for this position involve teaching 12 credit hours of business courses per semester during the two-semester academic year and collaborative engagement with colleagues within the School of Business Administration and across campus, and in the business community. The position also requires regular service on committees within the School of Business Administration and representing the School on University committees.

Minimum Qualifications:
A graduate degree and five years of professional business experience, or an undergraduate degree and 10 years of professional business experience.
Successful teaching in higher education or presentation experience in business-related content
Effective written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

An undergraduate degree in a business-related discipline from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited business school or in a communications-related discipline from an accredited university
A graduate degree in a business-related discipline from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited business school, in a communications-related discipline from an accredited university, or in a career development related discipline from an accredited university
Successful experience in one or more of the following:
undergraduate teaching, especially first-year students
undergraduate teaching of professional communications skills
undergraduate teaching of career development skills
experiential and active learning strategies that foster and maintain student engagement
teaching and mentoring individuals from socially and culturally diverse communities
developing opportunities for business students in the corporate community
collaborating with constituents within the school and across campus (i.e., faculty, staff, students, and administration) and/or with members of the business community
Microsoft Office software programs
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Effective oral communication skills
Effective classroom management skills
An appreciation of the University's Marianist values of theory to practice, practical wisdom, and community
