Job Description As a Technical Editor, you will make key contributions to the Documentation Enterprise team in support of Strategic Systems Programs (SSP). You will perform a variety of tasks related to producing and editing technical documents and technical procedure manuals such as: Strategic Systems Program Instructions (SSPINSTs), Weapon System Maintenance documents, Ordnance Pamphlets, Ordnance Documents, Standard Maintenance Procedures, and related documentation to include but not limited to, governing documents, correspondence, document technical specifications and work instruction.
Responsibilities - what you will be doing:Work closely with Subject Matter Experts, Technologists, and other Technical Editors to support the creation of technical dataResponsible for accurately editing both format and structure for Technical Manuals for the DoNPerform data quality checks and maintain data integrityCoordinating production and distribution schedules, timely distribution of replacement documents, conduct quality checks, and attend customer meetings at the BAE offices or the Washington Navy Yard Able to decipher redlines (changes) on technical procedures and drawings made by contractors or other team membersCommunicate with team members to ensure accuracy and completeness of technical dataDeveloping team internal processes and proceduresOther related duties as assignedRequired Education, Experience, & Skills English, Journalism, Communications, or Computer Science degreeActive Secret clearance Active CompTIA Security+ certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.Exceptional attention to detail and an eye for formatting inconsistenciesHas strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as outstanding strong proofreading and formatting skillsAbility to edit professional documents for content, flow, and integrity in conformance with best practicesHas the ability to perform documentation coordination and production activities with specific attention to detail and accuracyHas strong interpersonal skills: able to coordinate with all staff levels and across all department to produce timely, high quality documentationHas flexibility in dealing with changing prioritiesAbility to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and picturesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamMust be able to lift 40 poundsPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills Graphics Editing SkillsTechnical writing/editing, including grammar skillsKnowledgeable or has Continue Process Improvement ExperienceHas basic hardware configuration knowledgeAbility to apply knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, policies, and procedures is a plusFamiliar with Controlled Unclassified Information (e.g., requirements, portion markings, and creation)Experience in documentation/word processing systems (e.g., Microsoft, Arbortext, Vulcan, Quicksilver etc.)Familiar with producing structured electronic manuals in SGML, XML and S1000D in compliance per Navy approved DTDs Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $ $133870

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
