PAID 4th Year Audiology Externship

NWIHCS has one main campus hospital, a new suburban-Omaha clinic with Audiology services, and six Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC). The Omaha campus recently expanded with a new state of the art ancillary care and surgery clinic and a rehabilitation services clinic. Our NWIHCS Audiology team is staffed with 15 audiologists and 4 Health Technicians across 3 campuses. The NWIHCS Audiology team offers two to three challenging and comprehensive externships annually. One position serves at the Omaha main campus, and one is at the Lincoln, Nebraska CBOC. The externships are 12-month full-time (2080 hours) positions with an anticipated start date in June of 2025.
Application packages are submitted to Omaha and Lincoln sites separately. Historically, our traineeships have been funded by the Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA). Although we anticipate funding by OAA for these positions, this is at the discretion of OAA, pending budget approval. Students must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.

Our clinicians and externs enjoy a fast-paced and challenging caseload between scheduled appointments and our walk-in clinic for hearing aid patients.

Students must have completed 3-years of didactic and clinical skill training as required by their respective university to be eligible to proceed with a 4th year Audiology Externship.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: Knowledge and skills consistent with completion of 3 years in a clinical and didactic program of study in an accredited AuD program Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: *Veteran centered care delivery.
* Understanding and demonstration of foundational audiological principles and techniques.
