Summary

This position is located in Office of the Assistant Administrator for Policy, International Affairs and Environment APL, Office of Aviation Policy & Plans, Economics Analysis and Forecasting, Economics Analysis Division, APO-300). Incumbent will serve as a junior economist in the Office of Aviation Policy, in the Economic Analysis Division.



Duties

Performs a mixture of basic and routine (but progressively more difficult) assignments under the close direction of the Division Manager or Division Deputy Manager.

Works within a team to develop economic and regulatory impact analyses on aviation issues (including, but not limited to, aviation safety regulations, commercial space, unmanned aircraft systems, airports, airmen certification, aircraft type certification, and airspace).

Develops and applies cost-benefit and economic analysis techniques, build and run benefit-cost models, and assist in developing models and data used for regulatory impact analyses of FAA regulations and policies.

Applies basic technical knowledge of applied economics techniques and limited experience to accomplish assignments. Typical assignments include developing economic models, collecting, cleaning and manipulating data, data analysis, writing reports and communicating the results of analysis through both written and oral presentation to management.

Contacts are primarily internal to the organizational unit with a manager and other employees to share information, provide data and/or written analyses, and to discuss the status of assignments.

Regularly refers problems and work issues to a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist when existing guidelines are not available or applicable.

Work is reviewed frequently during assignments and at completion for all aspects of quality.
