Main Purpose of Job
This position is an integral part of the Special Operations Division of the Field Operations Bureau. It provides direct administrative support, judgement and analysis to the Commander allowing the Commander to make informed decisions that are in the best interest of the internal management of the division. The personnel and command staff rely on this position for logistical support in the furtherance of Department and Special Operations Division activities. This position is crucial to ensure administrative responsibilities are appropriately tracked, managed and completed in accordance with MSP policy.
POSITION DUTIES
Reviews and analyzes incoming correspondence and briefs the commander to determine task assignments to all personnel. Coordinates the upward and downward flow of routine and critical communications.\r

Prepares written correspondence and verbal communications as directed by the Commander.\r
\r
\r
Maintain the SOD roster / Manage the personnel files locally for personnel assigned to SOD.\r
\r
\r
Receives and processes invoices for the Division and acts as the liaison/point of contact for vendors.\r
\r
\r
Maintains all monthly reports ie: vehicle mileage summaries, org charts and any other duties assigned by command.\r
\r
\r
Completes all administrative tasks in furtherance of Division activities.\r
\r
\r
\r
\r
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. \r
Experience: Five years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties. \r
Notes: \r
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. \r
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted� at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.\r
3.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration or Personnel Specialist classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Special Assistant or Secretarial fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:\r
1. Experience in Windows based operating systems, preferably Windows 10.\r
\r

2. Experience with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.\r
\r
\r
3. Experience with Google products such as Docs, Sheets and Slides.\r
\r
\r
4. Experience in correspondence with Executive/Command staff and other leadership positions.\r
\r

5. Prior law enforcement experience\r
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this\r
classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor\r
vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor\r
vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \r
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a�keyboard of a personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.\r

Section 2-204(b)(6) of the Public Safety Article, Candidates for position in\r
this classification will be subject to an initial drug screening and a complete\r
criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before\r
permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds for\r
rejection of the candidate.\r

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process for\r
this recruitment will involve a rating of the training and experience provided\r
on the application. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be\r
placed on an eligible list in the BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, and\r
QUALIFIED categories. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select the\r
individual to fill this vacancy. The list will be valid for one year.\r
EXAMINATION PROCESS
The examination will\r
consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the\r
requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications\r
