Job Summary

The Sales Floor Associate plays a vital role in assisting the store management team in achieving operational goals by performing various tasks within the retail location. This position involves learning and working in different capacities, including Cashier, Textiles or Wares Producer, Donation Door Attendant, eCommerce Producer, e-Books Producer, and Rack or Cart Runner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cashier: Rings up customer orders, maintains a balanced drawer, and follows all cash handling procedures and protocols. Provides general information about Goodwill programs to educate customers and answer questions, directing higher-level inquiries to the appropriate associate or manager. Maintains the cleanliness of the sales floor.
  • Textiles or Wares Producer: Sorts product to identify quality and value, properly barbs, tags, and hangs textiles or wares, and groups textiles by light to dark and solid to prints. Produces 100 pieces per hour, adhering to Goodwill's pricing standards, and updates the daily production tracking sheet. Occasionally uses a pallet jack and regularly uses a conveyor belt.
  • Donation Door Attendant: Accepts donations from customers, maintains a clean and clear donation door, and educates customers on current Goodwill promotions, including the rewards program. Quickly and accurately sorts products and distributes them to the appropriate areas, maintaining an efficient working area by ensuring the backroom is clean and organized.
  • eCommerce Producer: Develops a keen eye to identify and secure items of value for ClickGoodwill, staying informed of market values through eBay and other Internet shopping sites. Properly tags, itemizes, and secures items in totes for ClickGoodwill and educates the team on high-ticket items. Palletizes, wraps, and ships totes to ClickGoodwill to meet the store quota.
  • e-Books Producer: Scans books received by the store, decides what to send to ClickGoodwill or display at the store location, and prints inventory sheets and packs, seals, and ships totes for ClickGoodwill. Identifies top sellers and manages a clean, organized, in-store sales-effective display.
  • Rack and Cart Runner: Checks each rack/cart to ensure quality and value, properly colorizes, merchandises, and purges the sales floor, and maintains a clean and orderly sales floor, putting away carts and stocking shelves.

  • Critical Thinking: Uses judgment and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Hard to Very Hard Physical Work: Is able to spend time in excess of 8 hours sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Uses hands to grasp, carry, feel, or touch products and machinery. Has the ability to move and lift 10-50 pounds, manage frequent exposure to moderate noise and temperature variations.
