Lower and Middle School Music Teacher

Berwick Academy, a PK-12 coeducational day school located in Southern Maine, seeks a full time music teacher to teach Middle School Chorus in grades 5-8 and Lower School music classes in grades PK-4. A qualified candidate will show evidence of exceptional teaching and a keen understanding of the developmental needs of a range of students.

Ideal candidates will:

• Hold a degree in music education
• Provide a dynamic, creative, and hands-on music curriculum for our lower school students through singing, playing instruments, and movement.
• Provide an energetic choral curriculum that encourages individual growth as a singer along with creating a dynamic and collaborative ensemble experience.
• Have experience with Orff and Kodaly curriculums
• Offer rehearsal piano skills

In addition to teaching roles above, candidates can expect to collaborate with faculty colleagues on various curricular efforts and concerts, act as music director of the Middle School musical, and help with recess/lunch duties as needed. This position is FT and begins in the academic year.
