The Facilities Services & Planning ("FS&P") division plays a key role in helping Stanford Health Care accomplish this mission. With a fast-paced, tech-savvy and lean culture that focuses on goals, metrics and continuous improvement, FS&P provides non-clinical operational support to Stanford Health Care and other Stanford Medicine entities to ensure safe and successful non-clinical operations 24/7 and plan for the organization's future facility needs.This is a Stanford Health Care job.
A Brief Overview
The Director of Environmental Health & Safety is responsible for the overall technical and administrative leadership and management of the Environmental Health & Safety Department and oversees comprehensive Environment of Care and Safety Management Programs within Stanford Healthcare. This position leads the program that provides a safe and healthful environment for patients, personnel, and visitors and protects the environment while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

What you will do
- Acts as a liaison with internal and external customers to implement programs (i.e. employees, support departments and outside regulatory agencies).
- Directs overall EH&S Department planning, direction and management of staff and services to include, workplace inspections, educational programs, environmental hazards and compliance issues and problem solving in response to various inquiries, complaints and emergencies as wells as develops and executes departmental budget.
- In the absences of the Safety Officer, serves as the alternate Safety Officer to intervene whenever conditions pose an immediate threat to life or health or threaten damage to equipment or buildings.
- Manages Environment of Care and Safety Policies and Procedures and modifies them as necessary to reflect programmatic or regulatory changes.
- Serves as Environment of Care Program Coordinator to develop, implement and monitor the various program elements (Safety Management, Life Safety, Haz. Material & Waste, Disaster Preparedness, Security, Equipment and Utility Management). Directs the information, collection, and evaluation system that reports to the EC Committee.
- Takes active role to support SH&C mission, leadership and performance improvement programs with a focus on the Environment of Care and Safety Program.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
Experience Qualifications
- Seven (7) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish the strategic direction and business plans for a functional group.
- Ability to research and develop the financial impact of a proactive EH&S program.
- Ability to strategize, plan and implement change.
- Ability to work effectively both as a team player and leader.
- Knowledge of 7 functional areas of Joint Commission Environment of Care, Emergency Management, Utilities Management, Medical Equipment Management, NFPA, EPA and Security Management.
- Knowledge of Environmental, Occupational Health, and Safety regulations.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management.
- Knowledge of Regulatory Federal, State, Local Agency Standards, Toxic Waste Disposal Requirements and Environmental Health & Safety Standards.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $ $96.06 per hourThe salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
