Maintenance Worker

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as a Maintenance Worker for the park office to which assigned. The maintenance staff operates and maintains one or more flood control dams and maintains and repairs park facilities.

• Perform simple electrical and mechanical tasks as instructed from higher graded employees.
• Perform minor repair of plumbing facilities, such as, replacing faucets, hose connections, lawn irrigation devices, and miscellaneous fixtures.
• Complete simple repairs to hydraulic gates, hoists and stand-by generators, such as, bolting down parts to machinery, checking fuel lines and lubricating systems and other power sources.
• Assist in monitoring water filtration equipment and gauges according to prescribed schedules.
• Under supervision of work leader or supervisor or higher graded maintenance worker, performs duties related to the operation of the dam.
• Operate a variety of vehicles and vessels, such as, sedans, light duty pickup trucks, light tractors, forklifts, motorboats, work barges, etc.
